Mentoring organizations do not have the tools to manage and track the success of their mentor-mentee relationships.
As a concept, Mentoring Works was selected as an investment recipient by the RK Mellon Foundation as part of their inaugural Social Impact Pitch Competition in 2021. Instead of a standalone app, it began as a module of the company's core product that you can see below.
My task was to take the basic functionality of the module and meet the feature requirements agreed upon by RK Mellon while improving the user experience and interface.
Following my understanding of the current system, I began interviewing users like a Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. These interview provided insights into how the system could best be designed to accommodate needs.

To get the design into the production phase, I created a design epic in Notion (left image). Each sub ticket included a screenshot, Figma link, and explanations on how each component functions in all states.
Following review and QA, I provided cycle notes to fix functionality and UI.
I came up with the following options for the app store icon and we landed on the first one (top left).
Finally, I created the app store images to show off our new app! I used our brand motifs to make them fun and inviting. Check out the product in the App Store or Google Play store.
